The
Pharmacy Audit Service (PAS) is a specialized service that helps
pharmacies prepare for and while being audited. PAS is part of the Pharmacy
Resource Center sponsored by the Michigan Pharmacists Association and
Pharmacy Services Inc. As PAS membership is similar to an insurance policy
an annual enrollment fee is required.
Pharmacies need PAS because the risk of being audited is high, and the results of being unprepared can be devastating. PAS provides expert information throughout the year that can help you to understand the terms of your third-party contracts, how to develop and implement appropriate procedures and provide assistance when your pharmacy is audited. Think of it as "audit insurance" - if your pharmacy is audited and you are a PAS member, we'll go to work for you. We have the expertise that comes from years of involvement in audits and third-party contracts. Even though most third-party insurance companies now utilize estimated acquisition to define cost, payment errors due to incorrect NDC numbers may still be extrapolated over a year's worth of business. This is similar to what was observed during actual acquisition cost audits. PAS provides information that can help you prepare for audits in advance as well as assistance when an audit occurs. |
